Cunninghamia konishii
Family: Taxodiaceae Common Name(s): Grown by: SF Botanical Garden, San Francisco This large evergreen conifer is also from Taiwan and resembles an Araucaria or Monterey puzzle tree. The new growth has bronze overtones and is quite dramatic and shiny on a large specimen. It can reach 100 feet after hundreds of years. The old foliage turns brown and stays on the tree for a few extra years so an older tree often looks untidy. Probably hardy to only zone 8 or 9, and needs full sun. Photo by Steve Morse |
