Nicotiana tabacum variegata
Family: Solanaceae
Common Name(s): Variegated Tobacco
Grown by: Bruce Peters, San Francisco

This is usually considered to be an annual or biennial, but offsets can be propagated for many years. The unvariegated form is the tobacco of commerce. The plant shown has very pleasing variegated leaves to 6 inches long. It likes heat and water and needs winter sun to persist. It can reach 7 feet tall and has fragrant, rose-colored flowers.
