This is a beautiful small maple that reaches only 20 feet tall. Its leaves are thick, with 5 sharp points and a truncate base. It comes from Northern China and is hardy. It needs some summer water and partial shade, especially inland. It produces reliable red-purple fall color in San Francisco.
