Dyckia velascana
Bromeliaceae
Larry Lee,

The genus Dyckia includes many terrestrial bromeliads that are usually small rosettes with puyalike silvery or gray narrow leaves with spines along the edges. They are best grown like agaves, in bright light or full sun in welldrained soil and are mostly both drought and frost tolerant.

The species on display had incredible silvery-purple leaves which seemed to glow and make it an awardwinning container plant. All Dyckias hail from South America.
