Lamiaceae

In keeping with the evening's theme, this plant is from the mint family. Patouchli oil of the perfume industry comes from this plant. The cuttings shown came from a plant grown in the East Bay for many years in a shady protected border. The flowers are quite beautiful, like a large wide-lipped pink salvia. The plant needs regular water and protection from frost. The parent shrub is 3' tall and has soft light green attractive leaves. It hails from tropical Indonesia and Malaysia.
