Gladiolus tristis
Liliaceae Alan Brubaker, Kenwood Fragrant gladioli are marvelous plants to grow in pots so they can be brought into the house in the evening, when their fragrance is strongest. This species from South Africa has pale beigeyellow flowers that are 2inches long and over an inch wide. They also make lovely cut flowers as they can be grown readily in the ground in welldrained soil in sunny locations. Even though dormant in summer, they tolerate some summer water and will slowly naturalize... Photo by Steve Morse |
