Iris confusa 'Chengdu' Iridaceae David Feix, Berkeley This is one of the Evansia ("cristata") irises and it gets the curious name "confusa" because it is easily confused with I. japonica or I. wattii when not in bloom. All three of these species have woody stalks about 1.5-2+ feet tall bearing a fan of shiny foliage. The cut stalk shown was in flower, the flowering scape coming out of the center of the fan and bearing 8-10 two-inch flowers. These are white or very pale blue with yellow spots. Native to western China.
