Family: Bromeliaceae
Common Name(s):
Grown by: David Feix, Berkeley

This beautiful bromeliad with a large stalk of red bracts topped with yellow flowers is a very reliable bloomer in the bay area. Best grown with morning sun or bright shade in pots or well drained soil in the ground.
These plants are native from southern Mexico to Brazil but are surprisingly hardy to 27 or 28 degrees F. They need water weekly in the summer.
