Metroisideros collina ‘Spring Fire’
Family: Myrtaceae
Common Name(s):
Grown by: David Feix, Berkeley

Since this shrub or small tree is native to the warm islands of the South Pacific, it is adapted to bloom any time of the year. The red bottle brush-type flowers are often seen year around also, in cultivation.

It is somewhat drought-tolerant and will grow in most soils. It is only hardy to about 30 degrees.
