Passiflora parritae
Family: Passifloraceae Common Name(s): Grown by: Don Mahoney, San Francisco Botanic Gardens This plant was thought to be extinct, but two specimens were found at high elevation in Columbia. One was brought to St. Louis, where it languished. From there, it was sent to San Francisco Botanical Garden, where it thrived in the cooler temperatures similar to its mountain home. It has since been propagated in small numbers, but is still considered critically endangered... Photo by Steve Morse |
