Cautleya lutea
Zingiberaceae Barbara and John Hopper, Kenwood (Sonoma Co.) This is a terrestrial herb that grows from a short rhizome. Several stems grow to 16", terminating in loose spikes of yellow or orange flowers. Native to the Himalayas, it is heat-tolerant but should have shade during midday and afternoon. Keep evenly moist but not soggy, feed lightly, at half strength. |
