Alternanthera ficoidea 'Party Time'
Family:
Common Name(s): San Francisco
Grown by: 2005, Bruce Peters

(~200 species of annuals, perennials from tropical and subtropical central and south America)

alternan = alternating antera = anthers (alternate anthers in the genus are barren of pollen)

Bruce continues to share his fascination with plants bearing variegation, bringing in this scrambling grower to 18" bearing preternatually bright magenta patches on the leaves. The variegation fades to light pink and white in sun. Grows best with water, but can handles temporary (and repeated) dry conditions with ease.
