Found wild in the eastern Cape of South Africa, this species has wavy, glossy green leaves growing in a large rosette. The leaves can be 2 inches wide and 10 inches long. Rocket-like infloresccences on strong erect stalks are produced in spring and early summer, The drooping tubular flowers are pale pink or yellow.

It thrives in part shade under trees or shrubs and needs protection below 32 degrees.
