Petasites fragrans
Asteraceae Kristin Yanker-Hansen, Danville This evergreen rhizomatous perennial is native to China. It is a smaller, more refined version of our own native petasites. The flowers are pale pink with darker markings and are in clusters somewhat ageratumlike on 8 to 12 inch high stems. They are very fragrant. The leaves are 46 inches wide and held upright on individual stems. So far it has been hardy in Danville. Photo by Jill Salmon |
