Strobilanthes attenuata
Family: Acanthaceae Common Name(s): Grown by: Bruce Peters, San Francisco This Asian species in the acanth family has recently become available in the trade and horticulturists are just learning how to grow it. Bruce grows this as a deciduous perennial that dies to the ground in the winter. With regular water it reliably blooms in part shade with a profusion of deed blue purple salvia like flowers. It has beautiful dark green foliage to set off the flowers. It blooms much of the summer. Photo by Bruce Peters |
