The plant shown growing in a 5-inch container is a cold hardy (down to 10°F) succulent covered with 0.75 inch daisy-like brilliant magenta flowers. This plant grows in the high mountains of South Africa and has proved hardy in Denver and Santa Fe. On first opening, the petals are only half the length they finally attain. The plant is low growing to possible 8-10 inches and is a good ground-cover in a sunny, well-drained site.
