Podophyllum pleianthum
Berberidaceae Barbara and John Hopper, Kenwood Shown growing in a container with an enormous glossy leaf or leaves 2 feet across supported by an upright stem about 12-14 inches high. This is a plant of Central and S.E. China, which grows in moist woodlands. It was in flower with dark maroon petals exuding a rotten-meat odor. This is very similar to another Chinese species, P. versipelle. The plant shown is 3-1/2 years old. |
