x Achimenanthus 'Inferno' Gesneriaceae. Grown by Katherine Henwood, Pacifica. A well grown pot of brilliant scarlet flowers on a low growing bigeneric hybrid usually listed as Achimenes. This plant is out of sync with the seasons, usually blooming here in summer or fall. The curiously fascinating winter dormant tubers look like drawn-out pine cones. These may be cut into many pieces and all will with luck form new plants.
